Dive and Dash - 29th April

The Fleurieu Swimming Club is pleased to present it's next "Dive'n'Dash" on Sunday 29th April 2012, at the Sherriffs Road Swimming Centre, 117 Sherriffs Road, Reynella. It commences with a warm-up at 2:00pm, with competition starting at 2:30pm.

The meet is open to all swimmers of any age and ability. Events are

• 10m. 25m & 50m Freestyle
• 10m. 25m & 50m Backstroke
• 10m. 25m & 50m Breaststroke
• 10m. 25m & 50m Butterfly
• 100m Individual Medley

Experienced swimmers will be on hand to assist younger swimmers, especially the starts of the 10m events which are started in the water.

There will be

• BBQ & Refreshments
• Participation Awards and Prizes

You do not need to be a member of a swimming club to enter, nor will there be any pressure to join.

Entry to the Dive'n'Dash is $2 per swimmer.

Change of Membership Renewal Period

Please read this letter from SwimmingSA advising clubs that as part of a national strategy, all States are moving to an October 1st registration date for all swimming clubs.

At the April meeting of the Management Committee, it was agreed that to work in with these changes of a 5 month membership which will be from 1st May 2012 – 30th September 2012 and then the new annual season membership from the 1st October 2012 – 30th September 2013.

The fee structure is being reviewed to reflect this new membership period. As soon as these have been approved by the Committee we will advise all members of what they will be.

2012 Australian Swimming Championships

Good luck to our Club Captain Adrian Waydock as he competes in the 2012 Australian Swimming Championships this weekend. Adrian is competing in the 200m Butterfly. The heats for this event take place on Saturday 17th March. Racing begins at 10:00am. Also on the Saturday morning program are the Women's 200m Freestyle and Women's 200m Individual Medley featuring quality swimmers including Stephanie Rice, Alicia Coutts, Emily Seebohm, Kylie Palmer and Bronte Barrett.

Tickets for this session are still available from Ticketek at $20 for adults and $10 for concession. Family tickets (2 adults + 2 children) are $45.

It would be great if club members could get along to give Adrian a cheer, and watch some of the worlds greatest swimmers compete for the chance of swimming at the 2012 London Olympics. Read more about Adrian in an article in the Southern Times Messenger.
