Swimsuits for Australian Age Group Events

28th April 2009

Swimmers and parents are reminded of the new regualtions regarding swimsuits for use in Australian Age Group events which came into operation on 01 April 2009 (From the SAL By-laws March 2009) These rules are in effect for all events from now on. Please ensure that your swimsuit complies.

CBL14.2 Additional Swimsuit Guidelines for Age Group Events

  1. All swimwear worn by competitors in Age Group Events (18 and under) conducted in Australia by SAL shall be commercially available products.
  2.  Swimwear worn by competitors in Age Group Events shall conform to the following design:
    1. Men’s swimwear is limited to one (1) swimsuit that covers at most the body surface from hips to knee.  Swimwear may not extend above the waist or below the knees;
    2. Women’s swimwear is limited to one (1) swimsuit that is of “open back” and “open shoulder” designs that may extend down to the knee. Swimwear must not extend below the knees. Swimwear must not have a zipper or any type of fastening system.

Interpretation of CBL 14.2 (2) (i) and CBL 14.2 (2)(ii)

For the purposes of this By - Law, one (1) swimsuit may include the wearing of a single pair of "briefs" or "bikini bottoms" to ensure the modesty and privacy of swimmers.

Division 1 and Division 2 - Positive Registration

27th April 2009

Commencing at the beginning of the Winter Series 2009, SwimmingSA is trialling a Positive Registration System.

Positive registration is a system where athletes indicate on the day which of their nominated/entered events they are intending to swim. This system will require an athlete, team manager or coach to indicate which event/s the athlete is going to swim for that session (the person will need to indicate all of the events intending to be swum). If the events are not identified during the positive registration period then the swimmer will not be able to swim.

More information regarding positive registration is available on the Swimming SA website.

After each meet where positive registration has been used, an online survey will be available on the Swimming SA website for members to provide their feedback to the Board of Swimming SA.

Entry Procedures - Division 2 Meet 3

27th April 2009

  • Division 2 Meet 3 - June 13

Swimmers and parents should note the club closing dates for these meets.

Entries should be emailed to nominations@fleurieusc.org.au or placed in the box (with payment) at Sherriffs Road by these dates. Due to the 1500m events at this meet, please indicate if swimmers are available for the relay events at the end of each session.

Eligible qualifying times are from 01 January 2008 (note that this date is incorrect in the Swimmers Handbook) and should have been set in a short course pool. Long course times can be used without any conversion. If using a long course time, please indicate this with your entry.

Note that swimmers times must be slower than the break time to swim events at the Division 2 competition.

The onus is on swimmers and parents to make sure that all details are correct. All swimmers have a list of eligible times that can be used for Winter competitions, so it should be relatively easy for these details to be found.

Payment should be put into the box at Sherriffs Road by the closing date as well. Please ensure that you pay by cheque or correct amount of cash only. Do not mix payment with non-competition payments.
