2010 Winter Competitions
26th April 2010
The 2010 Winter season is about to begin, and there have been some significant changes to the competition programs being implemented for this season which swimmers and parents should make themselves aware of.
As in previous years, Swimming SA will be running 3 series of meets
Division 1 - Short Course (25m)
As in previous years, qualifying times apply for entries in this series. Qualifying times should have been set in a Short Course pool (25m) since 01 January 2009, but Long Course (50m) times may be used with no conversion. 800m and 1500m Freestyle events may be entered with a 400m Freestyle qualifying time, but the seed entry time will be NT (no time).
Qualifying times for the 2010 season can be downloaded here.
12 & Over Division 2 - Short Course (25m)
As in previous years, break times apply, but entry is restricted to swimmers 12 years and over. Swimmers that do not have a qualifying time for the Division 1 competition can swim in this competition, but on achieving a time faster than the break time may not swim stroke and distance combination in the Division 2 series again, but are then eligible to enter the Division 1 series for that stroke and distance combination. Points are awarded regardless of time swum. Entry times should have been set in a Short Course pool (25m) since 01 January 2009, but Long Course (50m) times may be used with no conversion. Swimmers without times can enter events with a NT (no time) entry.
Break times for the 2010 season can be downloaded here.
11 & Under JX Series - Long Course (50m)
This series is in a new format for 2010, with the major differences being the reduction of the maximum age to 11 years, and the competition being a Long Course (50m) competition. The competition's focus is primarily as a Junior Excellence (JX) qualifying series. There are neither qualifying times or break times for this series. Entry times must have been set in a Long Course pool (50m) since 01 January 2009. Swimmers without times can enter events with a NT (no time) entry.
Swimmers 11 years and under wishing to set qualifying times for the 12 & Under State Short Course Championships in October can use either long course times times (if fast enough) from the 11 & Under JX or from the 3 short course club carnivals to be held over the Winter-
- STARplex (11-13 June)
